DODA : It is for the first time that the bid for a vanity registration number was made before Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) office Doda which fetched Rs 57, 200 for number JK06 – 9000 series.
Total five parties had applied for this number and two of them took part in the auction. As one Mohammad Shafi of Bariswan ,Doda offered highest bid of Rs 57,200 in addition to the registration fee, the number was allotted to him .
The passion for obtaining vanity numbers is growing fast among most of the Doda and Bhadarwah motorists with some of them even paying whopping charges for it.
ARTO Office Doda has started displaying all unclaimed VIP vehicle registration numbers on the notice board outside its office for the first time in this hilly district of Jammu and Kashmir .
“Its first-time bidding at ARTO office Doda and the bidding was for the registration number JK06 9000 which fetched a revenue of 57200 with 37000 as extra amount for the number. The bid was won by Mohammed Shafi R/ O Braiswan Doda”,ARTO Informed
Zargar said new vehicles are registered through software known as “Vahan”. “Under this software, a whole lot of vanity numbers are kept available for interested people in seeking preferred registration numbers. These numbers range from 1 to 100, he said.
