Maxim Singh wins open chess tourney

JAMMU: Maxim Singh won the title trophy securing a cash prize of Rs 5,000 in the Open Chess Tournament held at Ace Chess Academy here under the banner of All J and K Chess Association.
Soham Kamotra bagged the second place while third position went to Ritwan Sauntra. In the prize distribution function, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Soujanya Sharma was Chief Guest, who gave away the cash prizes and certificates to the winners.
He congratulated the winners and appreciated the organisers for providing young boys and girls a platform to excel. In total Rs 13,000 worth cash prizes were given away to winners of various categories.
Also present were president of the Association, Atul Gupta, Vice President, Baldev Raj, Taranvir Singh Gujral, Vikas Nanda and Sanjeev Mahajan as also Vijay Choudhary. The competition conducted by Anil Kotwal and Bindu Pathania.
The Results: Top 8 positions: Maxim Singh, Ist; Soham Kamotra, 2nd; Ritwan Sauntra, 3rd; Ajit Singh, 4th, Ravi Sharma, 5th, Pranav Sharma, 6th; Arvindu, 7th and Varsha Rani, 8th.
Special Prizes: Arushi Kotwal (best woman), Puneet Choudhary (best U-17), Akashdeep Singh (best U-13) and Deewang Gupta (best U-10).
