JAMMU: Sharat Chander Nagra, a refugee of 1947 from PoK, alleged that Sohan Singh, son of Saran Singh the brother of former Member Parliament Ch. Lal Singh is trying to illegally grab a portion of his land with the assistance of his muscle men and land mafia.
Talking to reporters here today, Nagra informed that the government had allotted to his parents land measuring 47 Kanals bearing Khasra Nos. 838/777, 839/777, 841/777 situated near National Highway at Legate Morh Kathua during the year 1954. The ownership rights of this land were granted to his mother Mela Devi wife of Late Kripa Ram, resident of Hoshiyari Rakh Kathua during the year 1968 and Girdawari from time to time had been recorded in the name of his mother.
For past more than one and a half years one Sohan Singh, brother of former MP Ch. Lal Singh is trying to grab 21 Kanals of land in Khasra No. 839/777 and has kicked out our tenant from the house constructed by us in our land by using muscle power and locked the house. Not only this, 25 quintal of wheat was also snatched by Sohan Singh and his goons forcibly. The complaint lodged in the police station by the land owners was turned to a deaf ear and no action was taken due to the influence of Lal Singh MP. The complaint made to the District Administration had also been ignored under his influence.
The aggrieved family moved the Court and on its directions police registered the FIR but did not proceed further to provide relief.
He said that again on 1st November, 2014 when he tried to lift the paddy crop, they were stopped by the goons of Sohan Singh on which he approached DC Kathua. DC Kathua issued directions to the SSP and Tehsildar Kathua on 17th November, 2014. Upon this the goons of Sohan Singh broke the water channel and entire paddy corn worth Rs 60,000 was destroyed in flooded water. The complaint made to the police in this direction was again taken no cognisance of.
Sharat Chandra Nagra said that Sohan Singh and his goons have threatened his family with dire consequences and on due to this situation his family and his property is not safe and they can be eliminated any time to grab their property.
He appealed to the government to provide him justice and secure his life and property at the hands of Sohan Singh and his goons who have strong hold on the police administration and Revenue Department.
