Measles surveillance workshop held at Doda

DODA: In continuation with the launching of State Measles Surveillance Programme, a one day workshop on measles surveillance was organised by Dy CMO Doda Dr Abdul Majeed Malik, under the supervision of Director Family Welfare Dr Baldev Sharma at PHC Ghat (Block Ghat) on Sunday.
The workshop was attended by District Immunisation Officer (DIO) Dr Tariq Masood, BMO Ghat Dr Mushtaq Shah, Surveillance Medical Officer Dr V.K.Gupta, HE Mohammad Shafi Attu, Incharge Medical Officers of all PHC’s, Health Educators, Community Health Officers, Basic Health Workers, Lady Heath Visitors, field staff and other para-medical of health block Ghat.
The primary purpose of the workshop was for establishment and maintenance of surveillance system to ensure timely notification of all measles cases and confirmation of outbreaks serologically.
On this occasion, Surveillance MO Dr V.K Gupta spoke in detail on epidemiology, diagnosis and management of measles.
DIO Dr Tariq Masood who gave presentation on measles in which he addressed how to strengthen the programme in the district.
Dy CMO Dr Abdul Majeed Malik also spoke on Measles Surveillance overview with respect to prevalence indices and statistics pertaining to measles across the state and country. He further said that measles is a highly contagious viral disease whose common complication includes pneumonia and diarrhea.
