New Delhi:- As many as 962 unclaimed bodies, almost eight daily, were recovered in the national capital in the last four months, the Rajya Sabha was told today.
“Delhi Police has reported that 962 unclaimed dead bodies were recovered during the last four months, i.e. from November 2015 to February 2016,” Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said in a written reply in the House.
BJD MP Baishanb Parida in a question sought to know if the number of bodies in and around Delhi had been piling up unabated and nobody was coming forward to claim them.
The minister also told the House that local police takes immediate action to shift aged and sick people reported lying hapless on roadsides.
