8,611 pay obeisance at Holy Amarnath Cave

SRINAGAR: On the ninth day of Shri Amarnath Yatra-2016, 8,611 Yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave. Till date 1,27,358 Yatris had Darshan of the Ice Lingam at the Holy Cave.
On Sunday, the Yatra convoy from Jammu did not proceed to the two Yatra Base Camps at Pahalgam and Baltal because of law and order considerations.
P.K. Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, has been in sustained contact with the State Police since Saturday morning and issuing the required instructions to the Yatra Camp Directors several times a day to ensure that the maximum possible number of pilgrims are enabled to complete their pilgrimage.
While the State Cabinet met today and reviewed the overall security situation, including issues
relating to the safety of tourists and pilgrims, Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shrine Board, has convened a meeting with the State Chief Secretary, DGP and Home Secretary tomorrow to review the various issues relating to the Yatra.
