65th Wildlife Conservation week celebrated

JAMMU: In connection with the 65th Wildlife Conserv-ation week celebration, the Department of Animal Sciences and Wildlife and Department of Plant Sciences of Central University of Jammu organised a workshop in collaboration with the Department of Wildlife and Protection, J and K, The Indian Sciences Congress Association, Kolkata-Jammu Chapter and the Wildlife Conservation Fund, Jammu and Kashmir.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof N.K Tripathi, Head Department of Animal Sciences and Wildlife and Department of Plant Sciences.
The Chief Guest of the programme was Prof. Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordi-nator of Central University of Jammu while R.S Jasrotia, IFS (Retd), J&K Forest Department, A.K Gupta, CCF J&K Forest Department, Upendra Pachnanda, IFS (Retd), Dr. Ranvijay Singh, Head Department of Zoology, GGM Science College Jammu and Nadeem Qadri, Environment Lawyer were among the dignitaries invited for the guest lectures.
Apart from the lectures, on spot Rangoli, painting, slogan writing and quiz competitions related to the wildlife were organised for undergraduate students. The workshop concluded with the prize distribution among the winners of the competitions were declared by Dr. Anjali Dhar, Assistant Professor, Department of Animal Sciences and Wildlife. In Rangoli Competition students of Department of Botany won the first prize to include Mohit, Harsimar, Monica and Yogesh, while the second prize won by Department of Zoology students they were Ananya, Humera, Anuradha and Parul and the third prize was achieved by students Physics Department they were Riya, Aneeqa, Anchal and Eisha.
In the slogan writing competition Aisha and Arzana both Department of Zoology won first and second prize whereas Mokshi Sharma student of Department of Chemistry won the third prize.
In the on spot painting competition, the students of Department of Botony Neha and Sanchi bagged first prize while students of Department of Zoology Kanika and Sabah got second prize and Maanvi and Shakti both Department of Chemistry got third prize. In the quiz competition Asshad and Akansha won first prize while Mohit and Saksham got second prize.
The proceedings of the workshop were conducted by Dr. Shivatambri, Assistant Professor, Animal Sciences and Wildlife, Dr. Vinita Sharma and Stanzin Ladol both Department of Animal Sciences and Wildlife were also present.
