6-member Wushu team leaves for World Cup

JAMMU: Six-member Indian Wushu team, including Surya Bhanu partap Singh from Jammu and Kashmir, was left on Monday to participate in the Eighth World Cup in Xian, China, starting from 1st to 7th November 2016.
The Wushu Association of India on collaboration with Sports Authority of India organised the National Wushu Coaching Camp for the selected players and coach at NIS Patiala from 13th to 30th October, 2016, according to a release from the Wushu Association of India.
The team was flagged off by President of Wushu Association of India, Bhupender Singh Bajwa.
The team is being accompanied as chief coach by J and K’s Inspector Kuldeep Handoo.
The team: Uchit Sharma (SSCB), Surya Bhanu Partap Singh (J&K), Y Sanathoi Devi (Manipur), Pooja Kadian (CRPF) and Monika (Haryana).
It is pertinent to mention here that Indian wushu team under the guidance of Kuldeep Handoo recently secured nine medals (4 silver and 5 Bronze) in the Ninth Asian Wushu Championship at Taiwan.
Surya Bhanu Partap Singh also secured silver medal in the Masters Challenge Cup at Macau and Bronze medal in the 13th World Wushu Championship at Jakarta.
The office bearers of the Wushu Association of J and K S Owais, H.K Lohia, Yogesh Sawhney, Ranjeet Kalra, Vijay saraf, Mozam Bakshi, Deepak Handa and Sunil Sharma congratulated the Indian team and Kuldeep Handoo and Bhanu Partap for the selection and wished best of luck for the event.
