548th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev celebrated with religious fervour

JAMMU: Gurpurab, the 548th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Devji, was celebrated with religious fervour across Jammu and Kashmir. The main function was held in Gurdwara Yadghar Guru Nanak Dev here. Thousands of Sikhs from across Jammu visited Gurdwara to join special prayers.
Guru Nanak (the founder of Sikhism) was born on 15th April, 1469 at Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi in the present district of Shekhupura in Pakistan, now Nanakana Sahib.
The programme was organised by District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu in which large number of devotees from all parts of the State participated to seek the blessings of Guru Sahib. Ragi Jatha of Bhai Manjeet Singh of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, Bhai Gurpreet Singh of Jalandhar and local Ragis recited the Shabad Kirtan.
Prominent religious preacher Bhai Parkash Singh Ferozpuri of Delhi threw light on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji who gave the message of love, brotherhood, peace and equality of human beings.
The Gurdwaras were beautifully decorated to mark the occasion. A special Langar was also organised for the devotees in Gurdwara.
Jagjit Singh, President, District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu thanked entire administration, all the Sikh Organisations, Sikh Sangat and other participants for their co-operation and participation in Nagar Kirtan and Today’s Program on the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji.
Similar function was celebrated by District Gurudwara Prabandakh Committee, Poonch along with entire Sikh Sangat with Mahant Manjit Singh Ji Sheromani Dera Nangali Poonch at Dera Nagali, Sahib, Poonch.
Mahant Manjit Singh stressed upon the Sikh community to adopt the path shown by Guru Nanak Dev Ji in every fields of life in order to become true and pure Sikh for serving the poor and needy people in the society and also wok for the betterment of the country.
He also appealed to the parents of Sikh youth to forgot the use of drugs but to become Amrit Dharis and to come to the field of education side so that they can become a most prosperous youth in the Country.
548th Praksh Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj was also celebrated at Gurudwara Digiana Ashram Jammu. Sudershan Singh Wazir, President, Sikh United Front J&K and Ex-President State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj made journeys in all parts of India.
Other present were Dharbinder Singh, Ramnik Singh, Raja Singh, Fateh Singh, Surinder Singh Kala, Mohinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Rajinder Singh, Gajan Singh, Harpal Singh Prince, Surjeet Singh Kuku, Kulwant Singh, Tipi Singh, Kultar Singh and Charanvir Singh.
