SAMBA: Police on Monday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 5 bovines. The vehicle used in smuggling was also seized.
As per details, acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Valley, a team from Police Station Ghagwal laid a Naka on link road near village Radyal, Ghagwal and signaled a Tata mobile, without registration number, coming from Kathua side through Bein Nallah track and moving towards Samba side, to stop. But, instead of stopping vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and abandoned it at a few metres distance away from Naka point. Taking advantage of darkness, the driver managed to escape from the spot.
During checking of vehicle, 5 bovines were found laden inside it which were rescued. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized on the spot. In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 130/2020 under Sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA was registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
