DODA: Continuing stanch drive against the forest theft, Amit Bhasin, Addl. SP Bhadarwah along with SDPO Bhadarwah and SHO Police Station Thathri conducted series of raids in Tehsil Chiralla and seized illicit timber.
Acting on specific information, a police party under the whole supervision of SSP Doda Z.N Manhas conducted raids at villages Gosti, Zilapani and Sheikhpora of Tehsil Chiralla and seized six cedar scants from the house of Abdul Razak Batt son of Sikander Batt resident of Gosti and FIR No. 32/2015 under section 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act was registered, 10 cedar sleepers from the house of Talib Hussain son of Dina Bhat resident of Zilapani and FIR No. 33/2015 under section 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act stands registered, 22 sleepers of pine tree and five scants of cedar from the house of Zarief Malik son of Suban Malik resident of Zilapani and FIR No. 34/2015 under section 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act stands registered, 22 scants of pine tree from the house of Khursheed Ahmed son of Gh. Mohd. Batt resident of Gosti and FIR No. 35/2015 under section 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act stands registered and 26 scants of pine tree from the house of Tariq Sheikh son of Mohd. Hanief Sheikh resident of Sheikhpora and FIR No. 36/2015 under section 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act stands registered at PS Thathri respectively.
The accused persons concealed the green gold (cedar) in their houses for personal gain/smuggling purpose. This kind of forest theft/smuggling is not possible without the connivance of Forest officials. Besides, five FIRs pertaining to timber smuggling stands already been registered at Police Station Thathri few days back.
Moreover, Addl. SP /SDPO Bhadarwah also conducted a PCPG meeting at village Gosti and sensitized the participants about the value of green gold and also urged them if they have any information about the forest theft/timber smugglers, same may be shared with Police so that action under law should be initiated against them.
