35th District Kathua Volleyball Championship begins

HIRANAGAR: 35th District Kathua Volleyball Championship- 2023 being organised by District Volleyball Association Kathua under the aegis of J&K Volleyball Association and sponsorship by J&K Sports Council started at volleyball grounds Govt High School Mela, here on Saturday.
The Championship in which 22 teams of boys from different volleyball clubs of the District and four teams of girls are participating was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Sunil Kumar, District Youth & Sports Officer Kathua.
Kamal Sharma, Zonal Youth & Sports Officer, Sallan Zone was Guest of Honour.
Total eight matches were played today. In the show match, Lower Mela beat Upper Mela by 2-0.
Other results: Lower Mela beat Uttari by 2-0; Chakra Volleyball Club beat Data Ranpat Dev Volleyball Club Mela by 2-1; Gurah Mundian Volleyball Club beat Chhappar Volleyball Club by 2-0; Gara Volleyball Club beat Gadyali Volleyball Club by 2-0; Rudra Volleyball Club beat Kootah Volleyball Club by 2-0; Upper Mela Volleyball Club beat Jandi Volleyball Club by 2-0; and Ward No 1 Hiranagar Volleyball Club beat Samadhian Volleyball Club Hiranagar by 2-1.
Deepak Sharma, Rahul Varma, Nitin Sharma and Amit Sharma officiated the matches under supervision of Mohinder Sharma, a senior volleyball player and General Secretary of District Volleyball Association Kathua.
A large number of volleyball lovers of adjoining villages witnessed the matches.
Prominent persons present were Kamal Sharma President of District Volleyball Association Kathua, Mohinder Sharma General Secretary, Pitambhar Sharma Chief Manager J&K Bank, Sarpanch and Panchs of Mela Panchayat, Rakesh Goswamy, Vice-President, Keshav Sharma Cashier and Ram Lal Sharma Joint Secretary.
