RAJOURI: To curb the menace of illegal distillation and sale of illicit liquor, sleuths of Excise Range Rajouri led by Mohd Parvaiz Excise Inspector under the supervision of Excise Commissioner T. Angchuk, Deputy Excise Commissioner Ghanshyam Singh and Farooq Choudhary, Excise and Taxation Officer conducted series of raids.
The team conducted raids in village Potha, Sailsui, Kharala, Jigni, Kothian, Birma Jigni, Mandir Gala, Sakri, Dhar Sakri, Peeri, and other places. During the course of raids, three persons were arrested and booked under JK Excise Act 1958 for possessing illicit liquor. The arrested persons include Karnal Singh, son of Bidhi Chand, resident of Dhar Sakri, Som Raj, son of Bindru Ram, resident of Jigni and Neelam Devi, wife of late Balbir Singh, resident of Jigni.
During the course of raids 340 kg of lahan and 35 liters of illicit liquor was destroyed on the spot.
