REASI/RAMBAN: Police on Thursday foiled three bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 19 bovines and arresting four smugglers at Reasi and Ramban Districts.
According to a report, a specific information was received at Police Post Dewal that some persons were on way along with bovines from Ladh Dewal towards Kashmir via Magnarh Gali without any legal permission. On this, a team from Police Post Dewal led by In-Charge Police Post Dewal laid a Naka at Lar Nallah and rescued seven bovines from the possession of the accused person. The accused person has been identified as Ghulam Nabi Nag son of Abdul Gaffar Nag resident of Dewal Tehsil Mahore District Reasi. The accused person was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 38/2016 under section 188 RPC was registered at Police Station Mahore.
Meanwhile, a specific information was received at Police Station Chassana that some persons were onway along with bovines towards Shopian Kashmir via Koser Gali route without any legal permission.
On this, a team from Police Station Chassana led by SI Ranjeet Singh, SHO Police Station Chassana laid a Naka at Kunderdhan Bher and rescued eight bovines from the possession of the accused person identified as Qamar Din son of Jamal Din resident of Channa Neosi Tehsil Chassana District Reasi. The accused person has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 27/2016 under section 188 RPC was registered at Police Station Chassana.
Meanwhile, Ramban Police foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing four bovines and nabbed two bovine smugglers.
Acting on a specific information, a police team of Police Station Gool laid a Naka at Mugzi in Gool area. During Naka checking, two bovine smugglers were stopped for enquiry, who were carrying bovines with them on foot. On seeing police team, both of them tried to escape from the spot leaving behind their cattle but cops chased them and apprehended them at some distance.
During enquiry, it was established that they were carrying a flock of animals with the intention to smuggle towards valley without any legal permission. Both the bovine smugglers, identified as Mohd Sultan son of Mohd Ramzan and Mohd Aqib son of Mohd Rafiq Niak both resident of Mahu, Banihal, were arrested under FIR No. 36/2016 section 188 RPC at Police Station Gool. Police party led by SI Ravi Singh, SHO PS Gòol made arrests.
