RAJOURI: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today convened meetings with the district administration and police authorities to take stock of law and order situation and availability of essential commodities in Shopian and Rajouri.
At Rajouri, the meeting was attended by Vice-Chairman Pahari Advisory Board Kuldeep Raj Gupta, MLA Rajouri Qamar Choudhary, DC Rajouri Shabir Ahmad Bhat, DIG Rajouri-Poonch range Johny William and SSP Rajouri Rajeshwar Singh among other senior officers.
The Minister took a comprehensive review of law and order scenario in the district and asked the concerned agencies to work in close coordination and ensure better interaction with the members of civil society for maintaining peace and tranquility in the region.
He said the public partaking holds the key to peace and prosperity of the state and sought public cooperation in strengthening initiatives of the government to steer the state on the path of peace and development.
The Minister also reviewed availability of essential commodities and instructed district administration and concerned departments to ensure adequate stock of essential commodities so that people do not face any inconvenience.
The Minister also held a press conference at Rajouri and appealed the people to uphold the tradition of amity and brotherhood for which the region is known.
Later the Minister also reviewed law and order situation at Shopian in a meeting held with DDC Shopian, SSP and other senior officers.
The chair was informed that adequate security arrangements have been put in place besides ensuring availability of essentials.
Zulfkar directed the district administration and police authorities to remain vigilant to avoid any untoward incident. He also appealed the people to help maintain peace stressed that violence only leads to destruction.
The Minister also reviewed stock availability of essential commodities in the district and directed to ensure adequate stock of essential commodities.
Minister also directed Deputy Commissioners of Rajouri and Shopian to issue a circular in their respective districts that no head of the department or other officer should leave the district headquarters without permission. He also directed Chief Medical Officers to ensure adequate medicare facilities in the hospitals while officers of concerned line departments were asked to ensure proper delivery of essential services.
