SRINAGAR: A total of 10 timber depots would be set up temporally to ensure early supply of timber to flood sufferers of Srinagar city while similar arrangement would be made in other flood affected districts also.
This was announced by the Minister for Forests Mian Altaf Ahmad while chairing a meeting of the officers of forest department here today.
The minister directed officers concerned to issue timber to the affected family on the basis of the list received by Deputy Commissioner concerned without carrying out any further verification.
The officers were also asked to assess the damage caused to the forest infrastructure including forest nurseries.
Managing Director, SFC, L.K Sharma briefed the meeting about the dumping and availability of timber in the sale depots.
