JAMMU: Parents and locals on Friday staged protest in connection with the death of a woman under suspicious circumstances in her in-laws house in Sidhra are of Jammu. Irked people blocked the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and demanded justice. Not only this, people went to the deceased’s in-laws house and ransacked the dowry which they have given to their daughter. At the same time, some goods were also kept on the highway and set into fire.
The brother of the deceased told that five years ago his sister was married in this house and regular dowry was demanded by in-laws side since the marriage. Many times they tried to save the relationship by giving gifts, vehicles, jewelry, cash. He alleged that his sister was assaulted on a daily basis. Pertinent o mention that Priya Chib, resident of Kunjwani was found hanging from in her in-laws house on Thursday. The in-laws took the body to GMC. After getting the information, mother, brother and others of the married woman reached hospital. They alleged that the their daughter was murdered. Police officials said that the in-laws including the husband have been brought for questioning.
