JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) commemorated Late Rajiv Gandhi’s 33rd death anniversary by paying heartfelt tributes and reflections on the enduring legacy of one of India’s most transformative leaders.
Led by JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, Senior Vice President Mula Ram, Vice Presidents Ved Mahajan, Vinod Sharma, Hari Singh , General Secretaries Narinder Gupta (org), Pawan Raina, Taranjeet Singh, Narinder Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Thomas Khokhar, and a host of other prominent leaders, the event served as a platform to honor Rajiv Gandhi’s contributions to the nation and to reaffirm the values he stood for. Raman Bhalla, in his address, eloquently reminisced about Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure as the youngest Prime Minister of India, spanning from 1984 to 1989. He highlighted Gandhi’s visionary leadership and his pioneering initiatives that laid the foundation for India’s modern trajectory.
Among these initiatives, Bhalla emphasized Gandhi’s instrumental role in ushering in the IT and Telecom revolution, which catapulted India into the digital age. He also underscored Gandhi’s efforts to empower the youth by lowering the voting age to 18, thereby giving them a voice in shaping the nation’s future.
Bhalla aptly described Rajiv Gandhi as the “architect of Modern India,” recognizing his transformative impact on various sectors, including technology, governance, and grassroots democracy.
He lauded Gandhi’s commitment to inclusive development and his unwavering dedication to the welfare of all sections of society.
Senior Vice President Mula Ram highlighted Gandhi’s instrumental role in transforming India into a rapidly developing nation and praised his visionary leadership in initiating the Panchayati Raj system, which empowered grassroots democracy and accelerated the pace of rural development.
