JAMMU: Senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi on Sunday attended special Yagya at the Mahamaya Temple, here.

The famous temple is located on the hilltop in Mahamaya Forests and is thronged by thousands of devotees and tourists.

Yudhvir Sethi offered prayers and attended the religious function organised by the temple committee.

Addressing gathering of devotees, the leader said the temple is one of the oldest and is located in serene forest location of the city.

He said pilgrim tourism has vast potential in the area and the government would be approached for developing the famous spot so as to attract more and more tourist to the famous temple. He said infrastructure should be improved at places having tourism potential so as to divert the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims to other locations in the region.

Yudhvir assured that all out efforts would be made to develop and upgrade the historic temple and concerted approach should be made to develop the area as a pilgrim destination point, taking into consideration the location of three famous temples of Bawe Wali Mata, Har Ki Podi and the Mahamaya Mandir in the nearby vicinity.

Prominent among those who attended the Yagya include Tarsem Chowdhary, Mandal President Gandhi Nagar, Surat Singh Charak, Mandal Gen-Secretary Gandhi Nagar, Chattar Singh, Joginder Singh, Sanjeev Chib, Sandeep Kapoor and Pammi Charak.
