JAMMU: Agitating Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) female teachers, who are on indefinite chain hunger strike for their regularisation, continued their strike for the 18th day on Saturday and held a demonstration at Exhibition Ground, near Press Club Jammu.
They shouted slogans against the government and in favour of their demand of regularisation.
Speaking on the occasion, President of KGBV Female Teachers Association, Mymoona Khan, warned to further intensify the protest if their demand of regularisation was not conceded.
“Despite already agreed in principle by the State Government and the Commissioner Secretary School Education that KGBV teachers are to be regularised on the analogy of ReT teachers, the concerned authorities have failed to issue formal orders for regularisation of those who have completed five years of service,” she alleged.
The Association President made it clear that the ongoing hunger strike would continue and the State Government, particularly the Commissioner Secretary School Education would be responsible in case of any untoward happening to the protesting teachers.
