JAMMU: In observance of Sanskrit Month, the Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust organized a tree plantation campaign at the Jammu Police Line IRP 18th Battalion. The event underscored the importance of trees as part of cultural heritage and environmental stewardship. SSP Ramesh Angral, Commandant of IRP 18th Battalion, highlighted the significance of planting trees in memory of martyrs and urged attendees to pledge planting a tree on each child’s birthday. He emphasized that trees are integral to our culture and identity, referencing their importance in scriptures. Mahant Rohit Shastri, a key figure in promoting Sanskrit and Indian culture, addressed the dangers of environmental pollution and the urgent need for tree planting.
He called on everyone to commit to planting at least one tree and stressed the importance of protecting planted trees. Shastri lamented the current trend of deforestation for short-term gains and likened trees to essential nourishment for the environment.Deputy Commandant Kulveer Handa reiterated the critical role of trees in providing oxygen and supporting life, emphasizing that planting and protecting trees is vital for environmental health. He praised the Trust’s efforts in promoting Sanskrit alongside their environmental initiatives. Trust members Uttam Chand Sharma, Naresh Raina, Aditya Abhiraj Sharma, and others also participated in the event, contributing to a collective effort to enhance environmental and cultural awareness.
