Youth movement in social media: Aam Aadmi effect?
Dear Editor,
Social media had important impact in the world like the Arab Spring. The councilors have adopted social media, by opening social media accounts, but the tragedy is that hardly they communicate on what is happening in the Council .The only thing visible on their timelines is their escapades and travel pictures. Of course the audiences of councilors are people in Ladakh in villages who might not check a timeline of face book, but it is important to show and broadcast to the rest of India and world the good things happening in the Himalayan region. Look at JK Chief Minister, he
regularly communicates on twitter and has a huge number of followers. He passionately voiced for Ladakh via social media when it won the Conde naste tour award. It is to see that all major political parties are now competing in social space by announcing rallies and discussing issues. District youth Congress, Nubra Congress, PDP, BJP youth, Panchayat Coordination Committees are regularly seen logger head with each other.Social medial has given another twist as the SECMOL architect has jumped into the political bandwagon by announcing his intentions to groom 26 Ladakhi youths to contest for Hill Council elections. In this New Ladakh movement the youths will be trained in governance and will be }}pitted against the existing parties. They are yet to declare their agendas or manifesto. Only time will tell if they are able to percolate their ideas to general masses of Ladakh and to trust them with their votes.
