JAMMU: Young Athletic Club is going to organise a Cross Country Championship on 26th October 2014 at village Gagore, Vijaypur in Samba District.
In a handout issued on Tuesday, Organising Secretary as also Treasurer of the Club, Rakesh Kumar said that this competition is being organised to boost the morale of youth besides encouraging them to take part in track and field events.
The categories under which the Cross Country Competition will be held include 3 KM for under-14 (boys and girls), 6 KM for under-18 (boys and girls) and 6 KM for senior (boys and girls).
Other important events of the upcoming championship are track and field 100 meters, long jump and discuss throw. These competitions shall also be played under the above cited age categories.
The event will be held under the supervision of Congress leader Satpaul, Ex-serviceman Janak Raj (Ex-athlete), Rajni Kumari Atri (Ex-athlete), Bashir Ahmed (Ex-member of Sports Council and Chief Sports Officer) and Shamer Malik (Athletic Coach Sports Council).
