YNC protests against BJP Govt for imposing 5 pc GST on food items

JAMMU: Youth Wing of J&K National Conference, staged a strong protest against BJP government at the Centre for imposing 5 per cent GST on pre-packed and unbranded food items. Led by Tejinder Pal Singh, President YNC Jammu, the NC activists raised slogans against the anti-poor people policies of the BJP Government. Talking to reporters, Tejinder said that this is for the first time in the history of J&K when non-branded food items are being brought under the GST and claimed that the decision was not in favour of the general public and traders. He said that by increasing and levying the GST would work to sprinkling salt on the wounds of the people. He said that today, inflation has made the lives of common people troublesome, owing to dictatorial policies and decisions of the Central Government. Singh said the government should give relief to the people from rising inflation. He asserted that the government should make essential food items free from GST so that people could eat bread comfortably. NC leader asked the Centre to reconsider this decision and withdraw the increased rates of GST in public interest failing which the Party would launch series of protests against the anti-poor people policies of BJP government.
