YCET, GDC Poonch win ties in Cricket

JAMMU: Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) Jammu and Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch won their respective matches in the annual inter-college cricket tournament on the JU Campus grounds, here on Wednesday. In the first match of the day, YCET trounced Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu by eight wickets. Earlier, batting first, GCET made 123 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 19.4 overs. Rohit Sharma remained top scorer with 30 runs while Imtiyaz and Anshuman contributed 27 and 13 runs respectively. For YCET, Usman was the successful bowler who clinched four wickets while Waqar and Harjinder shared two wickets. In reply, YCET, with the help of 58-run inning of Aaqib Nisar, chased the target in 18.5 overs for the loss of two wickets. Usman made 40 runs while Harjinder Singh added 10 runs to the total. For GCET, Shahid and Anshuman shared apiece each. Meanwhile, the GDC Poonch outplayed GDC Khour by six wickets. Batting first, GDC Khour set a target of 55 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 12 overs. Akshay Singh (27) and Gulshan Sharma (14) were main scorers. Jahanzab and Raja Rameez shared two wickets each while Gurjot Singh picked one for GDC Poonch. Later, batting second, GDC Poonch chased the target in 8.1 overs for the loss of four wickets. Rashiv Bakshi and Amandeep were highest run getters with 30 and 16 in their respective accounts. Gulshan, Ashok, Akshay Singh and Ashish shared apiece each for GDC Khour.
