JAMMU: Seeking revision and restructuring of PM’s Return, Relief and Rehabilitation Package for Kashmiri Migrants, Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) under the aegis of Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) led by its Chief Pt. R.K Bhat on Saturday launched National Wide Direct Action Programme and took out a Rath Yatra followed by Scooter Rally titled ‘Akhir Kab Tak’ from Muthi to Governor’s House.
The representatives of YAIKS while addressing a gathering termed the existing package for Kashmiri Migrants as eyewash and sought its immediate revamping after having proper dialogue with the concerned representatives of the migrant community.
Alleging that State Government has done nothing for the displaced community and whatever has been extended to Kashmiri Migrants has been provided by the Government of India, representatives of YAIKS asked the State Government to furnish the details of expenses made for last 26 years for the welfare of the displaced community. They also demanded white paper regarding measures Government had taken during last 26 years for the welfare and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Migrants. They said no return formula for KPs will be accepted unless government will not declare Kashmiri Pandits as Internally Displaced Persons (IDP status) with political empowerment, one time compensation of Rs. 25 lakh in favour of over-aged youth of the community who are the first victims of the migration, filling of left over posts out of total 15,000 jobs sanctioned by the Prime Minister of India in 2008 and PM package and Non-PM package employees working in valley to be declared at par with other Kashmiri migrant employees till final decision of return and rehabilitation is taken besides smart cities for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.
“YAIKS will vigorously organise protests, seminars, and workshops and will also invite all political setups of the nation for open discussions and debates to expose Government’s intension in the name of so called rehabilitation package which is a total failure and mere eyewash. We are homeless and nameless refugees in our own country”, they maintained.
The other core group members of YAIKS who addressed the protesters include B K Bhat – Vice President, Manoj Handoo – General Secretary, Sanjay Ganjoo and Ajay Safaya – Secretaries, Advisor s D.N Bhat, Pushkar Nath Pandita, Shuban Krishan Koul, Mohan Lal Pandita and Bhushan Lal.
Later, five members of delegation led by President Pt R K Bhat called on Principal Secretary to Governor and handed over memorandum of demands.
