X-mas fervour sets in Jammu

JAMMU: As a mark of Christmas celebrations, a colourful procession was taken out by the Joint Churches of Jammu and Christian Community of Jammu, here on Thursday.
The procession began from Residency Road Church, passed through Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Shalamar, Parade, Kachi Chawni, Parijtirthi, Jain Bazar, Purani Mandi, Kanak Mandi and back to Shahidi Chowk where it culminated.
The procession included several tableaux depicting different scenes from the Holy Bible showcasing the birth and deeds of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace and his teachings of love, harmony, peace and brotherhood among people.
Santa Claus, angels, tableaus with King Herod, soldiers of Roman Army on horses and the three camel-borne kings, who visited baby Jesus at his birth were special attractions in the procession.
The Market Association at many places gave a warm welcome to the procession and offered refreshment to the participants of the procession.
The main organisers of the Rally were Rev. Udhay Singh Priest of St. Paul’s Church, Rev. Shoukat Peter President Joint Churches of Jammu, Father José Vadakel of Catholic Church Jammu, S.M Gill Ex MLC, Feastus Sotra, Younas Masih, Anthony Teji, Rohil Mattoo, Robin Bhatti, Christian Community Leaders, Tarsem Masih, Faras, Akbar, Markus Nisar, Johney Bhatti and Camres David, Media Secretary.
The community prayed for the well being of the citizens of India as well as J AND K and also offered special prayers for peace and harmony in the State.
