Wrestling Assn elects wrestlers to represent J&K in National Games

JAMMU: As many as seven grapplers will be representing Jammu and Kashmir in the 37th National Games scheduled to be held at Goa from October 26 to 29, 2023.
The squad was finalised by the Wrestling Association of J&K during the selection trials held at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.
As per the official communiqué, Former International Wrestler of India and first Gold Medal Winner for J&K in National Games held at Pune, Maharashtra in 1994, Dushyant Sharma was the special invitee on the occasion.
He congratulated the selected wrestlers and wished them for the prestigious competition.
The selected wrestlers are in women category (50-kg): Sanjana Sharma, in men’s category:- (57-kg Freestyle): Anil Singh, (67-kg Greeco Roman): Netar Singh, (74-kg Freestyle): Jarnail Singh, (97-kg Greeco Roman): Sahil Sharma, (125-kg Freestyle): Ishaq Ahmed and (130-kg Greeco Roman): Daler Khan.
Jai Bharat and Ravinder Kumar to accompany the team as coach and manager respectively.
Prominent wrestlers and sports lovers among others were present on the occasion are Vijay Pahalwan Senior Vice-President, Om Parkash Treasurer Wrestling Association of J&K, Dheeraj Sharma, Swaran Lal, Suraj Bhan Singh and Satpal Singh were the observer from J&K Sports Council.
