World Blood Donors Day celebrated

KATHUA: World Blood Donors Day was celebrated in Govt. Degree College Kathua in which Principal of the College Dr. B.L Gupta was the Chief Guest.
Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Coordinator Red Ribbon Club of the College emphasised on the importance of Blood Donors Day. He said that the students of the college should come forward for this noble cause. He further said that the college students can donate blood as they are usually of the right age and physique for donating the same.
Dr. B. L Gupta, Principal of the College enlightened the students about various programmes launched by WHO on Blood Donors Day. He said that WHO is calling for increased regular blood donations from voluntary, unpaid donors in order to save millions of lives globally each year. He said that the campaign aims to highlight stories from people whose lives have been saved through blood donation, as a way of motivating regular blood donors to continue giving blood and people in good health who have never given blood to begin doing so.
Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, Staff Secretary of the College threw light on the theme of this year’s campaign ‘Thank you for saving my life’. Prof. P.K Rao and Prof. Anirudh Sharma also addressed the students with their inspiring speeches on blood donation.
Prof. Pankaj Nandan, Prof. Sandeep Choudhary, Dr. R.K Manhas, Dr. Ram Singh, Dr. Surya Partap Singh, Prof. Pawan, Dr. Sumit Dubey, Prof Kailash Sharma, Dr. Mohinder Nath, Prof. Parveen Sharma, Prof. Anoop Sharma, Dr. Vakeel Singh, Prof. Ajay Gupta, Dr. Sapna Narania, Prof Rajat Bhardwaj, Prof Jatinder Paul Singh, Prof Reetika Gupta, Prof Seema Sharma and Prof. Anil were also present on this occasion.
DODA: To mark the World Blood Donors Day an awareness camp was organised at District Hospital Doda to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their voluntary and life-saving gifts of blood .
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Bhupinder Kumar was the Chief Guest on the occasion who highlighted that this day is celebrated to focus on thanking blood donors who save lives every day by donating blood and appealed more people all over the district to donate blood voluntarily and regularly. Superintendent District Hospital Doda Yaqoob Mir also spoke on the occasion. Regular Blood donors were also felicitated on the occasion.
