Woman among 4 held with 20 Kg poppy straw, 6 Kg Ganja

JAMMU: Police on Thursday arrested four drug peddlers including a woman and recovered 20 Kg poppy straw and six Kg ganja from their possession in two separate incidents.
According to report, Gangyal Police, acting on specific information, laid a surprised Naka at Kunjwani Chowk and signaled to stop one Maruti car for police check which was on its way from Kashmir towards Bari Brahmana. On search of the vehicle, police recovered 20 Kg poppy straw (Bhukki) from the possession of three persons who were travelling in it.
In this regard a case FIR No 58/2017 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Gangyal and further investigation of the case is going on.
The arrest and recovery was made by SI Nayat Ali, SHO Police Station Gangyal under the supervision of SDPO City South, Rafiq Manhas and SP City South, Sandeep Choudhary.
Meanwhile, Narwal Police laid a surprise Naka at Wave Mall Chowk and intercepted one woman pedestrian for checking. During search of her belongings, police recovered 6 Kg Ganja from her possession.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 185/2017 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and further investigation of the case is going on. During preliminary enquiry woman revealed that she belongs to Rajasthan and presently putting-up in Narwal, Jammu. She told this drug was meant to be sold among the youth of district Jammu. The arrest and recovery was made by the team comprising Incharge Police Post Narwal, SI Vikram Manhas, ASI Mohammad Iqbal and others under the supervision of SHO Police Station Bahu Fort Inspector Bharat Sharma, SDPO City East Jammu, Arun Jamwal and SP City South Sandeep Choudhary.
