Withdraw all cases of Amarnath land row agitation: SAYSS

JAMMU: Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS), which spearheaded the two-month long Shri Amanath Land row agitation in Jammu in 2008, demanded withdrawal of all the cases registered during 2008 agitation.
“The awakening of the present Coalition Government for reviewing the cases registered eight years back during the Amarnath Land row agitation and withdrawing only 20 FIRs involving 70 agitators is a welcome step, but we are unable to understand, why all such cases have not been withdrawn,” Convener of the Samiti, Pawan Kohli told reporters, here on Friday.
He said as per agreement entered between the government and the Sangarsh Samiti on 31st August, 2008 only sixty days were the dead line for reviewing and withdrawing the cases registered with the proviso that no action will be taken till all the cases are reviewed and withdrawn. “Even after lapse of nearly eight years, the present dispensation has still kept certain cases yet to be reviewed and decided,” he said.
He expected that the Coalition Government, which is apparently working in the right direction, will take immediate decision and announce the withdrawal of withheld cases at the earliest.
