JAMMU: The State government on Tuesday announced winter vacations for educational institutions of Kashmir division and the winter zone of Jammu division.
According to an order issued by the Education Department, the winter vacations of the government and private recognised schools of Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division would begin from 17th December, 2016 upto middle standard.
The winter vacations for the High and Higher Secondary Schools would start from 26th December, 2016. The educational institutions would reopen on 28th February, 2017.
Meanwhile, in terms of the departmental policy to provide optional winter schooling to the students to compensate the loss suffered during the current year, the Director School Education Kashmir has been directed to notify schools where classes will be held during winter vacation for class VIII to XII and for those students who have taken the XII exams, also notify schools for holding of Super-50 coaching, select teachers to be deployed for conduct of classes/coaching in these schools, who shall be provided incentive.
Director School Education Kashmir would make all infrastructure arrangements for the smooth conduct of classes/coaching.
Similar arrangements for winter schooling/coaching would be made by DSE Jammu. It was further ordered that officers associated with the conduct of practical examinations shall avail winter vacations only after conclusion of the practical examinations.
Further, the officers required to undergo training as per the schedule already notified by the Chief Education Officers, shall compulsorily attend the training programme.
The teaching faculty shall report for duties on 27th February 2017 to supervise arrangements for re-opening of schools.
