Winning start by JU in NZ Football

JAMMU: University of Jammu (JU) made it a winning start when they defeated a better opponent in Kurukshetra University by a solitary goal in the North Zone Inter-University (Men) Football Tournament underway at Desh Bhagat University, Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab.
The only goal of the match came through Pankaj Sharma in the 52nd minute after both sides witnessed a barren first half of the game, the reports reaching here said.
Now, JU shall take on the professional side of Lovely Professional University (LPU) Jallandhar at the same venue on 19th January.
Led by Dharampal, the JU team is accompanied by JU Football Coach, Gagan Kumar. The Team: Dharampal (captain), Rajinder Singh, Ajay Sharma, Amit Kumar, Raza Ali, Aquib, Surjeet, Shivam Gupta, Pankaj Sharma, Abhimanyu Sharma, Ankit Gupta, Tanveer Singh, Akshat Gupta, Varundev, Aman Banathia, Karamveer, Vikas, Anmol, Vismadh Singh.
Meanwhile, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, who earlier personally supervised the selection process of the team, congratulated the Coach, Gagan Kumar and Skipper, Dharampal for superb show against a better side in their opening tie.
