Winning & losing fine, participation important: Mudgal to sportspersons
Inaugurates Khelo India Women’s Wushu Championship

JAMMU: Commissioner Secretary Tourism J&K, Yasha Mudgal on Tuesday inaugurated Khelo India Wushu Women’s League-2023 Sub Junior & Junior National Championship at Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, here.
The 6-days Championship which is being organized by Wushu Association of India in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), Sports Authority of India (SAI) & J&K Sports Council will conclude on March 31, 2024.
While Yasha Mudgal was the Chief Guest, Ranjeet Karla presided over the function.
They were accompanied by Sh Suhel Ahmad CEO Wushu Association of India, Rajeev Sharma Member Sports Council, Vijay Saraf, President Wushu Association of J&K, Baljinder Singh, Chief Sports Officer JKSC, Bhavneet Kour, General Secretary, Mona Saraf, Sharat Chander DySP .
Speaking on the occasion, Yasha Mudgal lavished praise on the organisers for holding such events, which apart from helping youth to showcase their sporting, also help them not to derail from the mainstream.
She said sportspersons are the messengers of peace and harmony, adding that events like this help in eradicating drug culture from society.
While advising the young athletes to play the game with a sporting spirit, Yasha said that winning and losing is fine, but participation is important.
Earlier, Ranjeet Kalra, Member Sports Council presented a welcome address and highlighted the activities and achievements of Wushu sport.
He said over 600 women athletes across the country will take part in this sporting extravaganza.
He said the sports initiatives being taken under LG Manoj Sinha’s Administration are worth appreciation.
Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee presented a vote of thanks and extended thanks to the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, SAI, J&K Sports Council & Wushu Association of India for the allotment of Khelo India Wushu Women’s League to J&K.
He also thanked the J&K Government under the leadership of Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of J&K for making sports priority, especially among women.
He thanked the media fraternity for giving wide publicity to sports events in J&K.
Handoo said that for implementation of Sports Policy 2022 and taking measure sporting initiatives, Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul deserves appreciation.
The proceedings of the opening ceremony were beautifully conducted by anchor, Rajesh Dhar.
