Will spike in terror acts across Jammu impact economy, pilgrims tourism?

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory has witnessed notable advancements. Terrorism is one such longstanding issue which has been greatly taken care of by our valiant security forces. These strides towards establishing a tranquil, optimistic and progressed land have not been well received by the terrorists. They are fearful of the progress and peace in the Valley. Therefore, they have shifted their target to the outlying areas of Jammu wherein the presence of security forces is comparatively less robust. This is the first time ever that Jammu has been under such heightened alert followed by recurrent terror attacks. Hence, this becomes an appalling issue which requires the same kind of an ‘all out’ treatment done in Kashmir and now in Jammu also. I would also like to pay my homage to the family of our martyred soldiers who are the unsung heroes. I am hopeful for better days ahead.

If I talk about the economy of Jammu and Kashmir then I believe that Shri Amaranth Yatra also depends on the economy.
People are very disturbed by surge in terror attacks and encounters in the Union Territory.
I urge the higher authorities that terrorism should be eradicated from Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible.
I want peace here and of course everybody deserves a peaceful life.
Punit Jamwal, Akhnoor Market Association President
Terrorism doesn’t have any strong impact on economy. I don’t think there is any need for us to feel frightened. However, it is very disheartening to see the rise in the number of terror attacks in Jammu and also, which is progressing in various sectors with each passing day.
Shiv Kumar Gupta, Resident
The terrorists are relentlessly trying to create turbulence in our placid city, which has led to various casualties but I affirm they would never be able to succeed in instilling fear and polluting our Jammu. There is a need for rigorous and effective action against these malicious elements and that is the only way to deal with the problem of terrorism. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the authorities. While these terror attacks are very concerning and tragic, I have faith in our security forces and the Government.

Undeniably, such unfortunate and fearful terror events do impact the economy in a negative way. The aftermath of Article 370’s repeal, has brought contrasting economic impacts to the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. While Kashmir’s economy benefits from a thriving tourism sector, Jammu faces major setbacks to its already struggling, underdeveloped tourism sector. Jammu has now come under negative limelight due to the uninterrupted incidents of terrorism. Efforts were being made by the Tourism Development in regions like Reasi, Udhampur, Doda and Kishtwar but now these regions are grappling with security challenges. Despite valiant efforts by our security forces, challenges like local support for terrorists and Pakistan remain a big hurdle in the path of combating terrorism.

For the past few months every district in the Jammu Division is being targeted by terrorist. Whoever is causing terror in Jammu & Kashmir, strict action should be taken against them so that the people here get some relief.

I want that our government at the Centre should make strict laws so that no terror attack takes place in Jammu and Kashmir, due to which many people are already disturbed. All the people here are in fear and these terror attacks are also putting an impact on our economy, which is unacceptable.
