Western Army commander reviews security in Jammu
Jammu: The Army commander of Western Command Lieutenant General K J Sing today reviewed the security situation of Jammu region with top army officials.
The General Officer Commanding in Chief (GoC-in-C) visited Janglote belt of Kathua district and reviewed the security grid of Jammu with Local Military Commanders, PRO Defence, Jammu, Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
During his visit, Singh interacted with leaders of local Gujjar community and assured that efforts will be made to train local boys from the community to prepare them for recruitment in the Indian Army.
He said that efforts will be made to provide education to the Gujjar children.
The Army Commander informed that efforts will also be made for organising a recruitment rally to join the Indian Army in Kathua and Samba districts.
He said that the Army is acting as an important interface between Gujjars and Civil Administration in Jammu region.
In the last one month alone, four Veterinary Camps have been held in the border areas of Jammu region, the PRO said, adding, that Army Commander also distributed books and stationery items to needy students of Gujjar Community with assurance that more resources would be made available to them and other such students.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Regional President, Family Welfare Organisation of Western Command, Anita Singh inaugurated the Anthony Shopping Complex in Janglot, designed to meet the daily needs of the soldiers and their families.
