Mastermind Aamir among 2 still absconding with AK-47

JAMMU: Jammu Police have arrested one more suspect in weapon snatch case from Ban Toll Plaza on Sunday morning while two more including the mastermind are still at large with snatched AK-47 gun of a Selection Grade Constable (SgCT), who was deputed as PSO with Maulana Dehlavi.
“Another suspect identified as Mohammad Shahid has been taken into custody by police from Nagrota area while he was trying to escape to Kashmir valley in a passenger taxi,” reliable sources said.
They said, Shaheed, a resident of Shopian, was trying to give a slip to the police when nabbed at a check point.
“He along with Maqsood, also a resident of Shopian, who was overpowered by locals at the site of incident last night is being questioned but they have not yet spilled the beans,” said police.
Sources further added that two others identified as Asif and mastermind Aamir are still at large with official weapon (AK-47) and 30-round magazine of constable, who was hospitalised after being attacked by the miscreants by a rod after spraying chilli powder in his eyes.
“Three of them belong to Kashmir but one including the absconder is reportedly a resident of Bathindi area,” sources asserted.
Police has circulated the picture of Aamir to all the police stations and intelligence agencies to get information about his whereabouts.
Meanwhile, the incident has raised the eyebrows of the security forces as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to visit Udhampur on April 2 to inaugurate Chenani-Nashri tunnel.
High alert is sounded in Jammu after a Private Security Officer of ?Chairman, Anjumana Minhaj-e-Rasool Maulana Dehlavi was attacked by a group of Kashmiri youth, who they fled away after snatching his official AK-47 weapon near Tawi Bridge at Jewel Chowk here.
Sources said that these miscreants sprinkled red chilly in the eyes of the constable and later attacked him with an iron rod on his head.
The injured police PSO identified was Selection Grade Constable Mohammad Hanief, 50, son of Mohammad Subhan Sheikh, resident of Banihal, Batch No 355, posted with Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police. “We have sounded alert in the town while manhunt is launched to apprehend the absconding suspects,”they said adding that weapon is still to be traced. Maulana Dehlavi, who reached here last afternoon after wrapping his Kashmir visit said, “The official vehicle dropped me at the state guest house at around 2130 hours following which the driver and the PSO left the place.”
He however, condemned the attack and expressed concern.
According to sources the ambassador driver dropped the cop near Jewel Chowk area following which he was on way towards Bikram Chowk on foot when the miscreants struck.
