Bangalore: India Women beat Sri Lanka Women by 8 wickets in the warm up match of the ICC World Cup T20, played at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
India Women won the toss and chose to field first. Sri Lanka scored 125 at the loss of 4 wickets in specified 20 overs. Surangika scored the highest, 43 off 35 balls with 4 fours and 1 six and was not out. Kaushalya scored 34 off 20 balls with 6 fours and was also not out. Jayangani scored 18 off 27 balls with 2 fours and was caught by Kaur at the ball of Poonam Yadav. From India, DB Sharma secured 2 wickets against 4 runs in 2 overs. Pandey and Poonam Yadav secured 1 wicket against 12 and 9 runs respectively in 2 overs each.
In response, India achieved the target at the loss of 2 wickets only and scored 128 in 17.5 overs. Mandhana scored 42 off 28 balls with 5 fours and one six and was not out. VR Vanitha scored 37 off 34 balls with 3 fours and 1 six and was stamped by wicket Surangika at the ball of Prabodhani.
Skipper M Raj scored 23 off 33 balls with 2 fours and was caught behind by Surangika at the ball of Kumari. From Sri lanka, Prabodhani and Kumari secured one wicket each against 10 and 28 runs respectively in 4 overs each.
