Wattal accorded farewell

JAMMU: An engineer by profession and a dedicated officer, Jammu Municipal Corporation’s (JMC) ex-commissioner Kiran Wattal was on Tuesday accorded warm send off on his retirement in a simple but impressive function which was attended by prominent citizens and officials.
He attained superannuation today after rendering a total of 37 years of meritorious service in various government departments in different capacities. Besides serving JMC for 33 years as AE, AEE, Executive Engineer, Joint Commissioner and Commissioner, he has also served as Managing Director of J&K Housing Board, Chief Engineer of UEED and Secretary of J&K State Sports Council.
When he held the office of JMC commissioner in 2014, the government had sent him to Malaysia and Singapore for advanced training programme in Urban Infrastructure Planning. He started his career in August 1978 as site engineer in “Gammon India Ltd” and was put on the job of specialised bridge construction. He joined government service in J&K in 1980. He was appreciated for his hard work by many senior bureaucrats like Sahasranaman, P G Dhar Chakarvorty and Jeet Lal Gupta.
