Thane:-A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the watchman her building in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi here, city police said today.
The child was playing in the ground of her housing complex in Kamathghar last afternoon when the accused, Manilal Dhamke (60), took her to an isolated spot behind the Ganesh Mandir and abused her, police said.
The girl told her parents about it and they lodged a complaint with the police.
After the incident, the watchman was arrested last night, PSI K D Sonawane of Narpoli police station told PTI.
The accused has been booked under section 376 (rape) of IPC and also section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.
Dhamke was produced in the court today and remanded in police custody for four days.
