Vivek to lead trekking to Devi Pindian on Dec 11

JAMMU: As a part of celebrations of the International Mountain Day on December 11, Tawi Trekkers J&K, one of the biggest trekking clubs of the country, shall organize a day-long trek to Devi Pindian Shrine near Panthal village (near Katra) in Reasi district.
Since the aim of the trek is to draw the attention of the people to the important roles that mountain regions play in water and food supply an expert in the field shall also deliver a lecture on mountain biodiversity during the trek.
“The short trek from Panthal village to Devi Pindian Shrine and back shall be led by Vivek Chauhan, a veteran member of the club and Principal of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu,” informed President of the Club, Ram Khajuria.
The group of about 20 members also includes Advisor of the Club Prof. Lalit Magotra; president Ram Khajuria; senior members Sumit Khajuria, Narinder Singh, Kamal Kumar, Sushil Singh, Sonam Sidharth, Shashi Kant Sharma, international sport climbers Shivani Charak, Shilpa Charak and Arun Deep Singh, joint secretary of the club, Abhimanyu Sherpa and a host of other active members of the club including Sourav Deep Singh, Vishali Sharma, Bhanu Partap Singh and Ashmika Thappa.
It is pertinent to mention here that the purpose of organizing the trek in the beautiful, calm and serene Trikuta mountains is also to highlight the adventure tourism potential of the otherwise neglected and lesser known beauty spots of Jammu and thus bring them on the tourist map of J&K.
