Violation of vacation order: Action against five schools initiated, 14 buses seized

UDHAMPUR: A team of officers led by Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary carried out surprise inspection of 16 private schools after inputs were received about schools being run in violation of government order for closure of institutions from 21st to 28th May. Action has been initiated against six out of 16 schools which were found violating the directions. As many as 14 vehicles of some schools ferrying the students have also been booked. Total 11 schools have been booked.
The team of officers comprising of Addl DC Angrez Singh Rana, DTO Romesh Singh, PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra, CEO Bishen Singh, CAO Kulbhushan, DSHO Dr Sanjeev Kumar, DySP Gaurav Mahajan, ARTO Rajesh Gupta, Tehildar Shabir Ahmed and Executive Magistrates started inspection at 9:30 AM and inspected Sharon Public School, Little Flower Convent School, Happy Model Higher Secondary Achool, JK Public School, India Kids School, K C Gurukul School, Brooklyn Mission School, SPM Convent School, Brahm Rishi Bamra Shanti Vidya Peeth, DPS Rathian, Sacred Experimental (Illegal) School, AOC Higher Secondary School, Bachpan Playway, Vijay Higher Secondary and Twinkle-Twinkle Little School. Around 10 other schools were inspected by Addl DC A.S Rana and five schools were found open.
A number of schools closed the classes after news of surprise inspection spread in the town. Action has been initiated against schools which were found open in violation of government order to include Sharon Public School, Happy Model Higher Secondary School, India Kids School, KC Gurukul School, Sacred Era (Illegal) School and Bachpan Playway School. The managements of the schools were earlier directed by the district administration to adhere to the directions issued by Administrative Department regarding closure of schools from 21st to 28th May. A number of students alleged that they were forcibly called to school despite orders.
Fourteen buses of three major schools were also seized by ARTO as these were found ferrying the students. The students were safely accompanied to their residences. The managements and staff of all the private schools assured the administration for strict adherence to government orders regarding closure of schools. A helpline number 272727 has been released by the district administration for registering any complaint by parents, students or any stakeholder in the matter.
