POONCH: Amid raising slogans residents of village Chhambar on Mandi-Saujian Road on Saturday held a protest against Power Development Department for its failure to detect fault on the power lines due to which the water supply lines and taps in the village delivering electric shocks. The protesters including ladies and children staged a protest on the Mandi Saujian Road for over two hrs. They even did not allow the Army vehicles to ply on this border road.
The villagers alleged that they had been running from pillar to post with their complaint that people have not been using water supplied through taps due to electric shocks but the department has not paying any heed to the complaint. Assistant Executive Engineer PDD Mandi rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters that a special team would be deputed immediately to find out the fault on the lines, only after the assurance by the PDD official the protesters lifted the protest dharna and allowed the vehicles to ply on the road.
