Villagers along LoC protest, demand stay at safer places
POONCH : The residents living along LoC from Shahpur, Kerni and adjoining areas of District Poonch, who were affected by Pakistan’s unprovoked firing on Tuesday held a protest against administration and local coterie of political party leaders alleging indifferent attitude towards their misery and sufferings.
The protesters said that they have hardly come out of the fury of incessant rains, landslides and floods that their houses, human lives and livestock have come under the cruel garb of unprovoked Pakistani firing. They said that over 10 houses have been damaged in firing, a women injured, number of cattle injured and the ripe crop has been destroyed but no leader or officer from the administration side came to assess the losses and provide them relief. “The leaders, who came during elections seeking mandate are nowhere in the sight”, they lamented.
The protesters appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to shift them to safer places and save their lives until the guns are silenced. Prominent among those who spoke included Mohammad Hussain, Ruksana Kouser, Mohammad Rashid, Farooq Ahmed and others.
