Vikar for expediting compensation for daily wagers

JAMMU: The Committee on Government Assurances of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly asked the Power Development Department (PDD) to take up the matter of compensation cases of daily wagers and casual workers on priority basis who died or were injured while rendering their duties. The committee met here today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Vikar Rasool Wani to examine the Action Taken Report on the Government Assurances pertaining to PDD.
Legislators, Javaid Hassan Beigh, Asgar Ali Karbalai, Delden Namgyal, Dina Nath Bhagat, Mohammad Abbas Wani, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Devinder Kumar Manyal and Choudhary Qamar Hussain attended the meeting and gave their suggestions regarding functioning of PDD.
The Committee asked PDD for early release of already sanctioned amount for Receiving Stations of Ukhral, Kheri, Chand-erkote and Sudhmahadev and funds for central type of workshops which already have been sanctioned each for two-districts.
The Committee also stressed upon for early release of amount of Rs 103 crore under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyuti-karan Yojana (RGGVY) schemes for Chenab Valley.
The Committee stressed upon the PDD authorities to take necessary steps for posting and creation of new posts of field staff in required areas on priority basis so that the areas which are facing shortage of staff could be provide hassle free services to the people. Members of the Committee also highlighted various issues regarding electrification of villages/hamlets which are still uncovered, providing of un-interrupted/adequate power supply, installation of new polls and wires wherever required, immediate replacement of transformers where needed.
Commissioner Secretary, Power Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta briefed about the Action Taken on the Government Assurances given by the department on the floor of the house from time to time besides present status of various ongoing projects and schemes carried out by the department.
Among others, Managing Director, Power Development Corporation, Shah Faisal besides senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
