Vigilance produces challan against FCS&CA officials for graft

UDHAMPUR: The State Vigilance Organisation on Friday produced challan in the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Anti-Corruption, Udhampur against the officials of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department for their involvement in the misappropriation of food grains, meant for distribution at different rations stores in Reasi during February 2009, thus, causing loss of worth crores of rupees to the state exchequer.
The challan was produced against the Chief Supervisor Food store Trikuta Flour mill Udhampur, Supervisor Store Trikuta Flour mill Udhampur, Storekeeper Store Reasi, Storekeeper Store Arnas, TSO Stores Dharmari/Arnas, Storekeeper Store Dharmari, Storekeeper Store Mahore and Storekeeper Store Chasana District Reasi, who were holding these positions in the FCS&CA department at that time including Storekeeper, Manager RC Flour Mill Udhampur and then Senior Assistant/Supervisor FCS&CA Food store R C Flour Mill Udhampur in FIR No. 06/2009 under Sections 5(1)(c), 5 (1) (d) read with Section 5 (2) J&K PC Act. Svt. 2006 and Sections 109, 409, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC P/S VOJ.
The aforesaid case was registered in P/S VOJ on 04th March, 2009 on the basis of a joint surprise check conducted by the teams of VOJ on 18th February, 2009 at FCS&CA Stores Udhampur, Reasi and its tehsil stores after receiving the reports of misappropriation of food grains by officials of the department in the these districts. Thus, the case was registered against the aforesaid officials and private persons under Sections 109/409, 468, 471 RPC read with Sections 5(1) (c), 5(1) (d) and Section 5(2) of J&K P.C Act Svt.2006 in P/S VOJ.
During investigation, it was found that the accused officials, in connivance with each other and private persons, had misappropriated food grains which was meant for the distribution at different rations stores in Reasi during 2009, which caused huge loss of Rs. 1,15,55,576 to the state exchequer.
After completing the investigation, government sanction in respect of in-service accused officials as well as approval against the private/retired accused persons was obtained from the competent authority and challan was produced against them in Anti-corruption Court, Udhampur for their judicial determination.
