SRINAGAR: In the ongoing Assembly session, BJP senior leader and MLC Vibodh Gupta raised various issues related to daily wagers, NYCs and contractual employees.
He said that many talented youth of the State have been hired as contractual employees and besides working for many years they have never been regularised. He said that daily wagers especially in Public Health Engineering and electrical departments are giving a great service to the society. These people need to be paid as per their work, he added.
Raising the issue related to SPO’s Vibodh informed that as per present guidelines only 15 per cent of SPO’s are being regularized as constables. He proposed that this quota needs to be enhanced considering the huge number of SPOs working in J and K. He said that in the present scenario it is very important that two new battalions of SPOs should be raised in J and K. This will ensure the regularisation of SPOs on one side and on the other side will also help in dealing with various law and order problems. He raised the concern that presently many SPOs are expelled from service without assigning any reason and proposed that this should be stopped. He said that SPOs should be expelled only after proper departmental enquiry.
He further proposed to the House that presently the committee which has been constituted to look into these matters should not be an open ended committee. He said that this committee should be time bound as its recommendations are linked to the future of thousands of youth of the State. He asked for all efforts to look into the genuine problems of contractual employees, NYCs and daily wagers. He also proposed that government must give priority for regularisation to these young skilled people who in many cases have given years of their prime youth life towards the service of our society.
