Venture into new fields of research: Prof Veena tells Dogri scholars

JAMMU: On the concluding day of three-day Yuva Lekhak Seminar organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, the challenges and remedies of Dogri Language and literature discussed in detail by the young scholars doing research in Dogri.
N.D Jamwal, renowned Dogri writer and artist presided while Prof Ved Kumar Ghai, a reputed Dogri, Hindi and Sanskrit scholar and writer was the Chief Guest. Prof. Veena Gupta, an eminent Dogri writer and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium.
While delivering his address, N.D Jamwal congratulated Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for focussing seriously to involve young scholars of the Dogri language to work for the preservation and development of Dogri as mother language and also as a major language of Jammu region.
Prof Ved Kumari Ghai, while addressing the gathering, said that in this fast changing scenario, such literary meets are more important where scholars and students are placed on front and a platform is being provided to them to think, analyze and evaluate the Dogri language and literature.
Prof Veena Gupta, in her key-note address highlighted the important issues and challenges related to Dogri language, literature and research and said that the young writers and scholars should now work in the fields which remain untouched but have the equal importance and relevancy whereas the preservation and development of Dogri language is concerned.
Dr Rattan Basotra, Editor Dogri conducted the proceedings of the programme and Ashok Gupta, Chief Editor presented vote of thanks. The first paper reading session was conducted by Shiv Dev Singh Susheel, established Dogri writer while the second paper reading session was conducted by Kumar A Bharti, prominent theatre artist, director and Dogri playwright.
The scholars who presented their papers include Shallu Sharma, Meenakshi Devi, Sheetal Devi, Meetu Kumari, Pooja Sharma, Radha Devi Sharma, Anju Rani, Kailash Mohan, Narinder Kumar, Pratima Sangra, Dr. Surita Sharma, Sonika Jasrotia, Shiv Kumar Khajuria, Ashu Shrama and Sunil Kumar.
