JAMMU: To increase the green corner alongside the roads, Vice Chairperson JAKFED, Munish Sharma launched plantation drive at Lakkar Mandi Janipur here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion of World Bio-fuel Day, the Vice Chairperson urged people to undertake similar initiatives and participate actively during the period of monsoon.
Addressing a gathering of children of Spring Blossom School who took part in the plantation drive, Vice Chairperson said that parents and teachers should engage children in co-curricular activities like plantation drives at community and personal level to help the State to become a Green and Clean State.
This way the children will not only live with nature, but also love nature through their experiences, he added.
Maintaining that public participation is vital for preservation of environment, Munish Sharma urged people to come forward and voluntarily participate in the plantation drive. Moreover, he asked people to plant trees in their surroundings, school, colleges, etc.
