JAMMU: In the wake of the recent terror attack on the Pathankot Air Base and increasing threat posed by terrorism in J and K, Special DG, CRPF, J and K Zone, S.K Bhagat on Sunday said that Shri Mata Vaisnho Devi Shrine has been the prime target of terrorists in view of recent and past intelligence agencies’ inputs.
“Thus, in the wake of received inputs and present security scenario troops need to be more agile and alert while performing duty,” he said while addressing the troops during his visit to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine to review the security, here on Sunday.
Bhagat was accompanied by Kuldeep Dhar, IG Jammu Sector and Mool Chand Panwar, DIG (Ops) Jammu North.
He was received by Sunil Kumar, Commandant 06 Bn, CRPF at Sanjhi Chatt army helipad.
After paying obeisance at the Holy Shrine alongwith CRPF officers, he was briefed by Sunil Kumar about deployment of CRPF troops and sister agencies and security arrangements in connection with Shrine and adjoining areas.
Bhagat took Sainik Sammelan at Bhawan in which four officers, SDPO Bhawan, SHO Bhawan, eight subordinate officers and 45 constables were present.
He praised the troops and highlighted their so far efforts in connection with security and other sensitive issues pertaining to the Shrine.
He apprised the present officials thereon about the good image of CRPF in J and K in context to his previous meeting with late Mufti Mohammad Syeed, then CM J and K and his appraisal of work done by CRPF for maintaining law and order situation.
While addressing the officers, he said that security requirements can vary considerably depending on the assets at risk and the potential threats to these assets.
“The objective of doing a review is to determine real requirements, strength of security forces, police personnel and whether policy and procedures match the requirements,” he said and stated that implementing and maintaining security may not be particularly difficult or expensive if the intelligence inputs are received in time and from reliable sources.
He checked the security arrangements at Bhawan and advised to fix loopholes and re-furnish the security arrangements.
He was accompanied by senior officers during complete exercise of security review. He also conducted security review of Katra town to Moori Post falling under ops jurisdiction alongwith CRPF officials and police representatives.
